CERA Roy West
December 2006
My late father Roy
Jack West was on the Speedy from 1939 until 1944 or 1945. So he
was on the Arctic & the Malta convoys. He was an ERA and then
Chief ERA.
He looked back on
those troubled times on the Speedy with much affection. I have a
silver serviette ring presented to my father - " CERA West from
Captain and Officers HMS Speedy 1945 " - obviously a real honour,
but it shows that even in times of great shortages, the wardroom
on this very small ship, had real silver serviette rings.
I have several
photos from Malta and D Day which I will send.
